Multi Protocol Label Switching

Vodafone MPLS is a private IP VPN, combining the flexible any-to-any communication found on PSTN or internet with the reliability, quality and security delivered via Private Line, Frame Relay or ATM services.

The concept behind MPLS is based on a forwarding paradigm that consists of adding a label to each IP packet. A number of control modules are responsible for assigning and distributing the labels.

This service is aimed at customers who are sensitive to a degradation of service resulting from a Denial of Service (DoS) or Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack.

This is a premium service, which attempts to maintain an operating environment even when the customer or particular service is under attack. The service is designed and implemented in zones. This allows customers to be protected on the particular attacked zone to the guard for mitigation.

This technology detects traffic anomalies and will raise alerts to our Network Operations Centre (NOC) which operates on a 24x7 bases. The operations team then follows a pre-agreed incident response procedure in accordance to a Service Level Agreement (SLA).
