Top Up Plans FAQs

    Topping Up

    You can top up your mobile credit in any of the following ways:

    • Through your Vodafone account on our website or My Vodafone App, by clicking on Top Up
    • Top-Up Voucher
    • Bank ATM
    • Mobile SMS Top Up for BOV and HSBC customers
    • Set up Easy Top Up from your Vodafone account on our website

    A 4% Excise tax is deducted automatically from each Top-Up. Your mobile credit will not expire, however you do need to make at least one chargeable usage per 365 days to ensure that your SIM card remains active.

    Top Up Plans

    You can find all current Top Up plans on offer from the Plans Menu. To activate a Top Up plan, simply follow the below steps:

    1. Choose your preferred plan and Opt in by sending the relevant SMS code to 16200, or opt in from your My Vodafone App account.
    2. You will receive a confirmation SMS when you have successfully opted in.
    3. Top up with the relevant amount to activate the plan. You will receive a second SMS confirming that your plan has now been activated and credit has been deducted. You can now go on to use your plan!

    Any additional usage over and above your Top Up plan will be charged at out of bundle rates as cited on the terms and conditions of the plan.

    You can also check that your plan has been purchased, and check remaining balance and validity by sending a free blank SMS to 16290.

    You can opt out of a Top Up plan at any time, by sending the relevant code by SMS to 16200.

    Bundle Activation and Cancellation

    Bundle Activation

    You can purchase any bundle that is compatible with your plan:

    1. From your My Vodafone App account or www.vodafone.com.mt/bundles, by selecting your preferred bundle and purchasing it through mobile credit or bank card.
    2. By sending the relevant activation code by SMS to 16200. The bundle cost will be deducted from your mobile credit.

    A confirmation SMS will be sent to your number once purchase is successful, and you can then go on to use your bundle.

    You can also check that your bundle has been purchased, and check remaining balance and validity by sending a free blank SMS to 16290 or from the My Vodafone App.

    If you purchase a bundle which is automatically recurring, it will repurchase again upon expiry using the same payment method until you cancel it.

    Any usage over and above your bundle is charged at out of bundle rates as cited in the terms and conditions of the plan.


    Bundle Cancellation

    You can cancel your bundle by sending the relevant code by SMS to 16200. All cancellation codes may be found on www.vodafone.com.mt/bundles

    If you cancel a bundle before it expires, you will still be able to use it until its expiry date or until it is fully consumed, but it will then not repurchase again.


    Bundle Purchase Error

    If you have followed to above steps and did not manage to buy your bundle, please check:

    • That you have enough funds in your choice of payment method
    • If using a bank card, that all details have been entered correctly and it is valid
    • If you have a recurring bundle already, simply cancel this first by sending the respective code by SMS to16200, and then proceed to repurchase a new one. All cancellation codes may be found on www.vodafone.com.mt/bundles

    Top Up and Get Plans

    The Free Evenings and Weekends benefit gives you 1000 minutes to local Vodafone numbers during evenings after 18:00, weekends and public holidays when in Malta, and 50Mb with a €10 top-up or 200Mb with a €20 top-up.

    To activate this benefit:

    1. Follow the instructions on www.vodafone.com.mt/bundles-other
    2. You will receive a confirmation SMS that you have successfully opted in.
    3. Top up with €10 or €20 (benefit is not triggered by €5 top-up)
    4. You will receive another SMS that your benefit has been activated, valid for 30 days.

    Any additional usage is charged at the out of bundle rates as cited in the terms and conditions of the plan. You may unsubscribe from this benefit by sending the respective code by SMS to 16200.

    Easy Top Up

    Easy Top Up tops up your credit automatically on a date chosen by you, or when your credit drops below a specific amount.

    To set up Easy Top Up:

    1. Log into your Vodafone account on our website and select the Easy Top Up option.
    2. Follow the steps on screen to select your preferred Easy Top Up scheme and payment method. You can also change your Easy Top up details from the same tab at a later stage.
    3. For the first time only, top up manually on our Top Up page or via voucher card. Easy Top Up will then be triggered from the next chosen date/credit balance level.

    To confirm that top-up has been successful, send a free blank SMS to 16290.

    You may still top up manually anytime whilst subscribed to Easy Top Up. You may also cancel Easy Top Up at any time from your online Vodafone account.

    SOS

    If your credit balance is below €1, you may apply for SOS which gives you €2 credit. The €2 and an additional service charge of 40c will be deducted upon your next top up.

    To borrow €2, send an SMS with the word SOS to 16250. You may use SOS twice per top up.

    To confirm that credit has been added to your account, simply send a free blank SMS to 16290.

    Credit Transfer

    You can transfer credit to another Vodafone number at a charge of 5c:

    • To send €3, send an SMS with the Vodafone number you wish to send them to, to 16233
    • To send €5, send an SMS with the Vodafone number you with to send them to, to 16255

    Credit will then be deducted from your own credit balance and sent to the other number. You may use credit transfer up to three times per day.

    To confirm that credit has been deducted simply send a blank SMS to 16290.

    Checking My Balance

    To check your credit or bundle balance, simply send a blank SMS to 16290. If your phone does not allow you to send a blank SMS, you can enter one character.

    You will receive a reply SMS with your credit balance, bundle balance and bundle validity if applicable. This service is free of charge.

    Family and Friends

    Upon purchasing a Family and Friends bundle, you can set up your chosen family and friends numbers by:

    • Logging into your Vodafone account on our website and selecting Family and Friends from the My Vodafone menu.
    • Call on 16245 and follow the voice instructions.

    You may also change your Family and Friends numbers through the above methods. A charge may apply depending on the terms and conditions of the bundle.

    Switching to Vodafone

    To join the Vodafone network, simply visit any Vodafone store with your ID card or Passport. You may either port in a pre-paid number which is currently with another operator, or else purchase a new number.
